Why upgrade to LED

Still running old halogens? Swapping to LED is one of the cheapest upgrades you’ll make in the whole house. You’ll notice brighter light straight away, a lot less heat coming off the ceiling, and a real drop on your power bill, with fittings that last years instead of months.

Frequently asked questions

Are LED downlights worth it?
Yes, and it’s usually a quicker payoff than people expect. They use far less power than halogens, run a lot cooler, and last for years, so the energy savings alone tend to cover the cost over time.
How much does it cost to replace downlights?
It comes down to how many fittings you’ve got, whether they can be swapped over directly or need some rewiring, and whether the old halogen transformers need to come out too.
How many downlights do I need in a room?
It depends on your ceiling height, the size of the room and how you actually use the space. We plan the layout so the light spreads evenly, rather than leaving you with a bright patch in the middle and dark corners everywhere else.
Can I just change the globes myself?
Sometimes, but be careful with this one. A lot of older halogen fittings have transformers that just don’t play nicely with LED globes, and you end up with flickering or globes that fail early.
Can you install lights where there are none now?
Yes, that’s a common one. We run new wiring for downlights, pendants or outdoor fittings, and patch up as we go so you’re not left with a mess.
Do bathrooms need special lighting?
Yes. Bathroom lighting has to be correctly zoned and rated for a wet area under Australian standards, it’s not just a case of picking whatever fitting looks nice.

Absolutely, that’s most of the job really. We plan the layout around how you actually use each room, not just where the old points happen to be.
