One power point in the corner of the room rarely works anymore
Beside the bed, under the TV, at the desk in the home office or out on the patio, the point you need is rarely where the one point in the room happens to be. We add power points where they’ll actually get used, and replace older outlets with modern points that have USB-C charging built in.
We install new, extra and relocated power points across Frankston and the south-east, indoors and out. We check the existing circuit and switchboard before adding to either, run the neatest and safest route from your existing circuits, and leave things tidy behind us.
Where an appliance needs more than a general power circuit can give it, an EV charger, an induction cooktop or a split system, we run a dedicated circuit from the board with its own RCBO.

Signs you need more power points, or a new circuit
Things we see constantly, and none of them are hard to fix.
- A powerboard plugged into another powerboard behind the TV or the desk
- Extension leads running across doorways or under rugs

Scorching, warmth or a burning smell is a fault rather than a capacity problem, and it needs looking at before anything else gets plugged in.

Power point installation for Frankston homes
Streamline Electrical & Data is a Frankston-based team of licensed A-grade electricians working across the Mornington Peninsula and south-east Melbourne. Power points are the small job we do most, and they tend to turn up alongside a few others.
Where the extra points usually go
Beside the bed, under the TV, in the home office and out on the patio. Most homes were wired with one point per wall at best, and the furniture has moved several times since. Adding a double where the bedside table actually is, or behind the TV so the cables sit inside the wall, is a small job that makes a room work properly. While we’re there we can replace older outlets with modern points that have USB-C charging built in, and run a data or TV point in the same visit.
Outdoor points and salt air
Living this close to the bay, and with a lot of housing stock that’s had outdoor power added over the years, water in an outdoor outlet accounts for a large share of the nuisance trips we find. An outdoor point done properly gets a weatherproof cover fitted to Australian standards, IP-rated switching and weatherproof connections, and sits on an RCD-protected circuit so a wet outlet trips its own circuit rather than the whole house. If you already have one that trips after rain, that’s a fault to find rather than a switch to remove.
When the appliance needs its own circuit
A general power circuit is fine for lamps, laptops and the TV. It isn’t fine for a 7kW EV charger, an induction cooktop or a split system, which all want a dedicated circuit wired back to the switchboard with its own RCBO. Before we run one we check the board has the capacity to take it, and if it doesn’t, we tell you at the quote rather than on the day. A full or ceramic-fuse board turns a simple circuit into a two-part job, and we can usually do both in one visit.
Older homes and what happens with the old wiring
A lot of the housing through Seaford, Frankston North and Carrum Downs was wired long before anyone owned this many things that plug in. That usually means too few power points, a circuit doing more than it should, and sometimes a board with no room left. Adding a point to a sound circuit is straightforward. Where the existing cable is past its best, or the circuit has no RCD protection, we’ll let you know upfront what’s involved rather than quietly adding to a problem. Sometimes that’s a safety switch, sometimes a partial rewire, and we’ll tell you which.
